Hello, World: What This Blog Is About

Hi, I'm Almog. This is the first post on my blog, so here's a quick intro and a look at what to expect.

Who I am

I'm a software engineer working in machine learning. I have a B.Sc. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Entrepreneurship. I'm now in the middle of an M.Sc. in Machine Learning (ML).

I'm still learning every day: at work, in my studies, in side projects. This blog is where I'll share what I pick up along the way. For the full story, see my resume.

What I'll write about

Whatever I'm learning or building at the time, mostly:

• Machine learning and deep learning: the ideas, the math behind them, and what it takes to run them in production.
• Entrepreneurship: lessons from studying it, from time around startups and investors, and from things I build on the side.
• Cloud and engineering: AWS, MLOps (running ML in production), data pipelines, and the tools I use, including this site.

Learning in public

Many posts come in series that follow a course or a book I'm working through. Writing about it is how I check that I understand it. If it helps you learn too, even better. Each post in a series has:

• Intuition: the story, with examples and no formulas.
• The math: definitions and key equations, for readers who want them.
• Exercises: ten questions with worked answers, to check yourself.

Some posts also have interactive figures you can play with right in the page.
